Hello, I recently purchased a New Holland Super 66 square hay baler for its weight in scrap metal. I've seen the baler work fine before but when I bought the knotter frame was broken in one spot. I'm looking to purchase a new knotter frame to replace the broken one but New Holland doesn't make them anymore. I was wondering if I could replace both the knotter frames and all the working knotter parts with a later year New Holland bale like a 268 Hayliner or a 276? If I could find a used or after market knotter frame I would do that preferably but have had no luck finding any. Thanks.
 
You bought that baler for scrap because thats what it is-scrap iron.Do yourself a big favor and haul it right to the scrap yard.Thay baler is OLD(50s),very low capacity,and troublesome.Ask the guys about the 'wadboard'.Nany parts are going to br obsolete/NLA.You will spend tome/money to get this thing 'fixed',you will still have junk.Take the scrap money you get and buy a 'modern' baler that will work and will still have some parts available.You wont be sorry. Just my humble opinion.
 
Where you at?? I have an old NH parts baler and good chance the parts would work. I know I have used some of the parts on my NH271 and I think it is a 66 or 68 but not 100% sure any more
 
We had one, it was old, slow, unreliable and parts were becoming challenge to get. Oh yes we sold it in 1977
 
Good thing you weren't able to buy new knotters for the thing! Even if you could have, they would cost you many times what the baler would be worth AFTER it was fixed!!!

Spending $2000 to fix a $500 baler (example) is just plain foolish any way you look at it.

You're better off finding a complete working baler and either scrapping this one or parting it out for others who may have an old 68 baler they're trying to keep alive.
 
Go back to your NH dealer and have them check the parts depot. I just looked and they had two on hand.
