300rc suit cases weights and bracket

I have been poundering on putting a bracket and weights on the front of my 300 farmall but should I install power steering because it would be easyer to steer? and would any of you all have a picture of a bracket on the front of one of these tractors in no a man who has one on the front of there 450 and it really looks nice. I want to put a set of 4 row cultivators on the back 3 point and I pretty shore I need weight on the front and it does have the hand crank handle come out front so I would have to make the bracket go around that. thanks

Keep in mind that you're going to drop the better part of $1000 on a power steering setup, even a used one.

Since you know someone who has a weight bracket on a 450, and you like how it looks, I would recommend you take a look at his and copy it.

Do you have weights? Keep in mind those will run you about $100 apiece too.

So you are saying that I need power
steering to have these weights on and I
don't have any weights and I new it wasn't
going to be cheap to get all the stuff
thanks.

If you make a front weight bracket and copy the one off 450 you have to make it narrower because 450 frontend is wider.

I would get the implement you plan to use and see if it makes the front end too light. If it does just add enough weights till the front end stays on the ground but it is not too hard to steer and that way you will not need power steering. Power steering is needed for loader work or anything that loads the front end excessively, but what you are describing should be the opposite problem.

All you need is a piece of steel 1/2 inch thick, 6 inches tall, and wide enough to get from one side to the other. I can't remember how far apart the holes are drilled. When I built one for my SM I used two pieces of 1/4 inch plate welded together. Then ran some 2X2 heavy square tubing back and bolted it to the frame rails. Didn't look the greatest, but I built it in metal shop in 9th grade.

You won't need power steering. It may be harder to turn once you unhook the cultivator, but then you just go pull the weights off.

Oh, and the farther in front of the tractor you put the weights, the more effective they will be. To get around the rod for the hand crank, all you need to do is slide the front plate forward til it clears.
