Farmall H No Power

My H had been having trouble turning over like it wasnt getting any power when I was trying to start it. The wires would get very hot, the last time I tried to start it, it was doing this then it wouldnt do anything at all. I replaced the three big wires and the starter button and still nothing. No sound no anything. Could the starter motor be bad?

Your starter bendix may be jammed in the ring gear on your flywheel. Loosen the starter bolts and jiggle the starter to see if that frees the bendix. Hal

I pulled starter completely off and put it back on. It was not jammed and there was still nothing happening

Probable cause is worn bushings, the armature will drag on the field causing radical current draw and heating. Rebuild it, or have it rebuilt (best chance unless you are good with motors). Jim

Are you sure the starter isnt locked to the ring gear. Mite just need to loosen the mounting bolts as the bendix mite be locked to the ring gear then install and try again.

Have your starter checked to make sure it is ok. Hal
PS: Use a pinch bar and see if the engine is stuck.

What is a good way to test it other that process of elimination? I know its not the battery wires or starter switch at this point. Is there anything else it could be?

It is 6volt and the cables I just put on it are all 1/0. When I push the starter button absolutely nothing happens, which is what was happening before i replaced the cables and the starter switch.

Do you have 6 volts at the starter????

If so due what jnicholson said get the starter checked & repaired
