39 F 20 throttle and or magneto control

A man at a Salvage yard was going to send a copy of a diagram to me, that would show the entire assembly. Instead he left a message on my answering machine. He said that the latter model F20s had a different throttle system than the early models. I saw an assembly on the RICE equipment site the had two downward adjustment rods. I have a flat rod on the left side of the tractor, with notches, that I thought was the throttle rod. Is this the throttle control or the choke control? Should I have a magneto control rod that goes over the top of the hood or not? If not, how do I make the adjustments to the Mag.
Thank you

The throttle is the one on the left with notchs. The one that goes over the top of hood and has a rod that goes down to mag. The choke is on the side and goes to the front of tractor so you can control it while cranking.

You only need the rod and lever to adjust the magneto from the seat. You can still adjust it for start and run from the mag itself.

Your 39 f-20 has a variable speed governor. The earlier ones had a single speed governor and had the throttle control and the mag. Control up by the steering wheel. Most of those got changed over to the variable speed gov.the throttle control is usually on the right side of the fuel tank on those, they sold kits. My 36 f-20 has been changed and is on the right side of the fuel tank.

Mine is a 37 with throttle control on the left but there is linkage on back of block that takes it to the right side of engine.

I thought that there was an option that had a choke control rod going back to the seat for the tractors with elec. start, which mine has. I thought mine was set up the way you described.
Thank you for confirming that.

I thought I would be able to do as you have suggested and I probably will do it that way, until I can find the correct rod.
Thank you

I thought that that was how it was supposed to be connected until I saw the rod shown on the Rice site. Now I know that the one they had listed was for an earlier model F 20.
Thank you

Thank you for the explanation. I get very unhappy about ordering the wrong parts. I was quoted between $100 and $150 if they had the parts and now I know I do not need the double rods and levers.
