adding hydrostatic steering

I"m adding hydrostatic steering to a farmall 504. It had the power assist originally but the unit wore out and quit working. I"ve mounted the steering control and routed the hoses but haven"t decided on the best way to mount a cylinder on the axle. I would appreciate some pics of how anyone else has done this to get ideas.
Thanks to all for your great advice.

There are several ways to do it.
One absolute is the linking of the spindles so they follow Ackerman principles. A tierod between the sides and attached to steering arms as shown in the diagram, is a good solution. If the 504 has 2 push pull drag links from a gear box, one on each side, that geometry (and the gears in the box that control the links, as well as the geometry of the arms on the box,) are responsible for the Ackerman effect.
Thus if your front end has that Utility style linkage, either the gears are needed, or new fabricated steering arms on the spindles are needed with a link between them as shown in the diagram.
Two different approaches are used to power the steering one type uses 2 identical single acting cylinders, each pushing in opposite directions. Sometimes they are placed on the drag links on opposite sides, sometimes attached to the center of the cross rod and anchored to the axle.
Some use a single double acting cylinder that pushes and pulls on one link. Either way a bracket, or two, must be welded (with professional absolutely fail proof strength) so the cylinder/s are positioned to allow full steering movement "lock-to-Lock" Jim

Note that this must be a double rod cylinder: the kind with a rod coming out of each end. A normal double acting cylinder won"t work right because a given amount of oil will move it more in one direction than the other due to the displacement of the rod.
