Gentlemen,
I am restoring a farmall m early serial #. The question I had was the left side shaft housing from the differential to the brake drum has about 10-13 thousands gap between the bearing and the differential, do I need to make sure to close that gap to insure proper ring gear/pinion gear operation? Also, I have about a 1/4 inch play (laterally) in the shaft on the left side that runs from the differential to the brake drum, will tightening the brake drum on the outside hold the double splined shaft in place?
