More hydraulics questions

I am running a 2444 that sat for 3 yrs. The hydraulics work for a cpl hrs then sporadically fail. The failure is momentary but I loose steering and 3 pt lift arms. Front bucket still works. Second problem is the lift arms for the 3 pt go up,and stay up regardless of valve position. Is there a manual for this dedicated to just the hydraulic systems, so I can stop bugging all you nice folks? Thanks in advance.

The regular owner's manual should tell you how to operate everything.

I'd imagine the tractor has two pumps, one for steering/3pt, and the other for the loader.

If the 3pt goes up and stays up, and won't go down no matter what position the lever is in, how do you know when you lose it?

Not familiar with those exact tractors, but there is a DRAFT/POSITION control lever on a typical 3pt hitch system. If it's set all the way to the DRAFT side, I've seen where they just go up and stay up if there's nothing attached. The draft sensing gets confused. Set all the way to POSITION allows you to move it up and down.

On the larger tractors, there's also a RUN position, which really screws things up. No idea why it's even there...

Here is a picture from the operators manual showing the hydraulic controls:

Losing the PS momentarily would indicate air in the system from either sitting a long time, or being low on fluid, or contamination in the system plugging an orifice. I'd lean toward air in the system.
If yours is the two control handle system like the picture, they can be tricky as to where the draft lever is when using position control and where the position lever is when using the draft control. Never liked those controls... you had to read the operators manual. There is generally an adjustment on the draft where you move the lever about 3/4 to 1" off the upper stop and the arms start to settle, and should go all the way down. Farther you move the lever, the faster it drops. Sometimes a [u:5c37bb7879]little[/u:5c37bb7879] added weight helps. Since I am not familiar with that particular system, my observations are general.
