1066 Black Stripe Hydraulics Update

Originally found a broken Pin in the control arm for the Left side remote hydraulics, thought all was fixed with the roll pin. Tested last night, while the control arm and the actual control now work, the remote outlets are still dead, and if I can attach my picture, there is a hose that loops around the right hand remote that has a hydraulic quick connect on it. When i move the left remote control that hose flexes, obvious pressure on it, nothing on the left side remotes. Someone added another set of outlets, that do not have the valves in them, and there are another set of hoses hanging on the left side that apparently quick connect to something??? There is also another control mounted in the cab. I'm guessing I need to remove the seat and remove all this Optional stuff and reconnect the outlets, At least I hope that is all i have to do.

Take the seat cover off and see what's going on. It will be easy enough to figure out what hoses go where.

The hose that flexes when you use the left remote is probably connected to the left remote in place of the factory outlet. The factory outlet is probably damaged and hoses were a much cheaper way to repair it.

You also appear to have a power beyond setup, which gives you auxiliary hydraulics beyond the two factory remotes. That extra control is probably a THIRD hydraulic remote. You don't want to remove it, it could come in handy!

When you get the cover off, look at the end of the "valve stack" and you should see a couple of extra hoses.

Thanks, I will have to clean out the cab and remove
the seat. Like everything else it's going to take
time, and like everyone else, do not have much of it
after work, and the farm itself. Second cutting is
looking like it's ready too... Good thing I do not
round bale 2nd. Initially I thought that looped
hose was for a john deere plow, now I am not so
sure. I will try to get pictures of the other
control and what I find once the seat is out.

In your picture you have what appears to be adaptors in the original couplers on the tractor. Make sure you have the right hose ends. Also if the tractor has not been updated with the ISO kit the lever on the coupler has to be open in the direction of oil flow. The pin or cam that opens the coupler can break & not open the coupler. The hose you see is an added power beyond. The couplers should work with the hoses hooked togather.

The adaptors are the same on both sides, the right side, which the baler is connected to in the pictures works, when I moved the lines to the left side and tried it last night, the power beyond hose moved when I moved the control for the left side, which told me the control valve is working, but the baler did nothing, there are several other hoses on this thing that do not appear to be actually functional, there are no ball bearings or valve kits in the third set of remotes, nor are there any in the set of hoses hanging down on the left side, I believe those hoses and the upper remotes are connected to a control in the cab on the side, which is definitely someone's add on, but I will check the remotes without the couplers. I don't know if I have anything with standard IH couplers though. I have a manual for the tractor now, but it does not show much for this part of the hydraulics. I have never had an IH before either, so I'm not that familiar with them yet. Thanks for the tips. Leo

Ted, i just re read your comment for about the fifth time, and I think I now understand the Pin comment, so, it could be that if I turn the two "Pin's" on the left side to point back towards the couplers and move the hoses over to that side again it may work? Another item I never knew.... I will give that a try before I start taking things apart....

Thanks,

Leo

How are you determining "right" and "left?"

Normally left and right are based on sitting in the seat, facing forward, or standing behind the tractor, facing the rear of the tractor.

In your picture, the hoses are connected to the "left" set of outlets by most people's standards.

Leo, you are on the right track. Sorry my explanation was not to clear. Push forward on the back of the coupler, then plug in the hoses. You might have to clean them out so they will be sure to go in all the way. then flip the levers on the coupler body straight out in line with the hose & coupler to open them. The old IH couplers were prone to get full of dirt & hard to plug the hoses in.

OK now I really feel dumb. It was that simple replace the broken
roll pin hook up the hoses and then turn the valves to the proper
position and wow the hydraulics work. Some day I will try to
figure out the third set but I do not need them for now. Thanks
to you both!!! Leo
