Need to Ship a Tractor

I am looking into buying a tractor from Manitoba, Canada. The problem I have is getting it shipped to the St. Louis, MO area. Does anyone have any experience using shipping companies? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

One thing is for sure, you will be better off getting it yourself if you have a truck. If you have a truck, borrow a capable trailer and take 3 or 4 days off work.

Had a guy buy one of my tractors last year. Had it shipped from Michigan to Kansas. Not sure what the costs were.

Experience was good, but you're paying for the man and his truck. Could use your truck and take a big bite out of the cost of a new trailer hauling it yourself. Consider it a vacation of sorts.

Lessons learned:

Driver didn't want to sit around and chat. Have the tractor all packaged up & ready to go. Tie loose things down. Wrap things not wanting to get wet. Run the gas tank down low & turn off the gas once on the trailer. Remove the muffler & secure to the tractor somewhere (muffler mounts were not made to travel at 75MPH). Allow him to secure it, but watch that he is doing it correctly.

He just wants to hit the road.

I have used Q-Line Trucking from Saskatoon Saskatchewan. they have trucks running across borders. also will add to make sure the tractor is washed free of dirt, as they get sticky at border.
I would recommend them as very good service.

Try On Site Transportation. 724-726-7073

They are out of Pa and they have hauled a lot of tractors for me.
If you wait til they put together a load to the pick up area they will give you a good rate. The Hauling Schedule is ok, but some of the haulers want a fortune. These guys bring tractors out of Tx to Pa for me at $500 per tractor.

I ship hydraulic cylinders in and out of Canada all the time. You did not say what kind of tractor you were shipping. The paper work will get pretty involved. It depends on what truck line you are using. Since you are straight west of me, I will take a wild guess that you are looking at about $2,000 to do it. It could even go higher. You will need to ask yourself do I really want it that bad. Someone on here suggested going yourself. I don't know what you would need to cross the border, but for sure you will need a bill of sale and you can't go into Canada without a passport. Just my take on it.
