M gearshift

Yes and no, some years both used the same lever. All regular H through SMTA transmission top levers will fit in the shift hole but some will have a different bend or bends. Some bends for type of seat used for clearance.

(quoted from post at 19:54:13 07/22/13) Will a gearshift lever from and H fit and M?

I guess technically the bend is an issue and yes some have a different bend. Unless you are trying to build a production correct tractor, just use what you have.

Like has been already stated, some of those levers have different bends, but yes, the shift levers will interchange. A previous owner of my 1940 M had used a torch to heat the shift lever and give it some "custom" bends. It might have worked okay for him, but it sure didn"t work for me. I robbed a shift lever from a parts H and installed it on the M. The rubber knob on that lever comes real close to the headlamp bar going into 4th gear so I kind of watch my fingers a bit, but other than that, it works good.
