PTO extension for the F-series question

I am working on the PTO extension for my F-30 and my F-20 (I have 2 of them). Everything is cleaned and painted and ready to go, except for the carrier roller bearing.

Can those be disassembled? if so, how? Has anyone done it? I don't want to screw things up, as I can clean it up assembled, but I would prefer to take it apart and do it right.

Part number for the carrier bearing is: 69295-D

I put one on my Regular. When I took it apart to clean the bearing, the cage was already loose and came apart fairly easily. I would say, if all your rollers are good, do not take the cage apart, it can be cleaned just fine as it is. Letting it soak for a while will allow the solvent to do it's job in softening the old nasty dirty greasy crud and then it can be scraped and brushed off. My bearing had several badly rusted rollers so I bought some new 1/2" hardened and ground shaft, cut it into the correct lengths and made all new rollers.

The cage is comprised of 2 end pieces held apart with several pins. The ends of the pins are peened over to hold everything together.

Thanks Kirk, but how do you get the dust seals/retainers off? Are they a press fit? That is what I am having the trouble with.

If you have had good success with just soaking then cleaning, then I can go that route. They are fairly clean inside, just the old dried, grease.

Forgot about those, Tom  I think the edge is crimped into a grove after they are installed and they are a PITA to get off!! I had to use a combination of small chisels to try and expand it enough to make it easier to remove, then carefully drove it off with a hammer and punch. I tried to be careful so that I did not tear up the edge too bad that I could not reuse it. Then once it is reinstalled, I had to try and hammer the edge down like it was before.
