I have replaeced the seal under the steering wheel with a new one from Case/IH but it is continuing to leak. I have another new seal kit, but fear the same thing is going to happen. Any ideas on sealants i should use with the seal kit. Or any tricks from the oldtimer mechanics out there. Thanks!!

Never had one leak after i replaced the old one . and as some kind of sealer i sure don't know of any. usually getting the steering wheel off is the hardest part of the job . Now if the shaft is worn where the seal rides ya got a problem and that i have not run into yet so i can not give good advice on how to fix. maybe a repair sleeve ?? don't know . It has been awhile since i replaced one as it was on a sharp 1066 that i bought that had a cab , bought the tractor with a ride and drive and checked it out at the sale and every thing worked perfect even the air conditioning would hang icecycles off the end of you nose . loaded it up and hauled it six hour home and dropped the trailer and did not unload that night . Next mornning i went to unload it and as soon as she fired the seal let go as it was coming off the trailer and promptly deposited about three gallon of oil in the cab .before i could get her on the ground and shut off. The seal going was not that big of a deal but the clean up was .

I know what you mean, I had the wheel off with no trouble at all surprisingly, replaced the seal, and after about 2 days, bam, a slow leak. Luckily it was not like the tremendous gushing that happened when the original seal went, but still insulting.
