What a rush!

Well I put a gallon of gas in the tank and preset carb per discussions on the forum. Pulled the starter rod and the SM popped off after a few revolutions! Wow did that ever sound great. Last ran in Nov of 2003. Great oil pressure, no water leaks and one slight oil leak at rear main seal. I have added Bars rear main conditioner hoping this takes care of it? I changed the electrical to 12V and the 52 MD genny works just fine showing a 10 amp charge and rapidly dropping to an amp or two after 10 minutes. What is the recommended fluid for the hydralics? HyTran? I have the rear wheel hubs mounted and hope to roll in the tires tomorrow and get em bolted on. Can't wait to back ot out of the shop. I will post a few pictures once I have the sheet metal on.

(quoted from post at 17:59:24 07/21/13) You can use hytran, but the gears will spin longer possibly causing gear clash, also can begin to leak. No reason not to use the gear oil it was designed for, 90, 80W90 or 85W140 which is what I use.

Gear oil in the hydraulics? I don't think I he mentioned fill I g the rear end. Yes, use hytran in the hydraulics.

On a M, the recommended hydraulic oil is non-detergent 30W. Assume it would be the same on your tractor.

Definitely use modern hydraulic fluid. Back then hydraulic fluid wasn't what it is today. Forget the 30W.

A Super M does not use the trans/rear end as a reservoir for the hydraulics. The hydraulics are a totally seperate system, and yes, Hy-Tran would be the correct choice for the hydraulic system.

For what it's worth, Hy-Tran works quite well in the older, belly pump systems as well.

I apologize, and thanks for correcting me. I know that and have known it for several decades -- I think I must have dozed off while typing, as I was thinking about the transmission.
