should the + side of the coil on a 6v pos ground system have voltage on it when the on/off switch is pulled out to start? I don"t seem to be getting any spark. Points, cap, and rotor seem to be in order.

On a Pos ground system the coils + (if wired right) connects to the distributor and its points and if you turn the ign, ON although theres is voltage over on the coils other - input, THERES "USUALLY" NO VOLTAGE ON THE COILS + AS THE POINTS ARE USUALLY CLOSED WHEN SHES JUST SITTING THERE NOT RUNNING. Sure if a piston just happens to stop at TDC on compression the points would be open, but that usually dont happen.

If you place a test lamp on the coils + to distributor terminal and turn the ign on and slowly turn the engine over, it should flash ON (when points are open) and OFF (when points are closed)

If you work through my Ignition Troubleshooting Procedure linked below it can diagnose the cause of no spark.........
