We purchased an old tractor in 1978. My husband has passed away and I need to sell it. I have been told it could be a Farmall B late 30s to mid 40s. I would like to know what it is and what it is worth. I would like to sell to anyone interested in buying. It was running but needs a gas tank. I live near Gainesville, Florida

yes you have a farmall b say from 1939 to to 1947 there should be a tag under the seat or on the cylinder head front corner toward the raditior on the distributor side tractor is worth 500 to 1000 dollars

Well I'm certainly no red guy but it looks like more than a $300-$500 tractor to me. Tires & sheet metal look good. It looks complete and ran recently. Somehoe I sense this tractor was rather special to the now deceased gentleman, and received good care.

I sold a B at auction about 3 years ago with perfect tin running and with a good gas tank and fair paint. The price was a little less than $800. I am located near Atlanta. I would suspect that yours would go for $600 to $700 or so with the altered grill an needing attention to the gas tank (they can be repaired). It all depends on who is shopping at the time you sell but I would suggest a starting bid of no less than $500. If you just want to get it sold, start with a bid of $400.00 absolute auction. Have someone verify that the engine will turn over prior to selling.

What else do you notice about the tires???

I sold one that ran, but left a lot to be desired for $850. Good rears and welded block.

Start with a $500 price, and go from there. If someone is really looking for one of these, it could go as high as $800-$1000 here in PA. Or, if you are going to sell it in the front yard, start at $800 and take any reasonable offer over $500.

My opinion.

I still wonder where these guys find all these cheap tractors...

or, if they had a tractor like that, would they really take $350?

Fair price would be $700 to $800. If you're selling, ask $1000 and let the buyer think he's talking you down.

It would help to flip that one tire over to face the correct direction. Appearance is everything.

I'm not gonna lie to you, the sheet metal is far from "good." The bottom of the grille is missing, and I can see that the hood isn't setting on there quite right, and has a few dents. Pictures hide many sins.

Come on, people sell running tractors for less than scrap price everyday!

I see it is missing some tin in the pedal area.

in my area auctions too, scrappers and part'ers
won't let ANY tractor that runs, be bought for less than 500 or so.
Farmalls are fairly low $ here.
your tractor, about $600-$900, ask $995 and let them talk you down some.
too far away for me, but if local I would probably go $750 if I saw it beside the road.

(I see a lot of BN's locally, haven't seen a B for sale in awhile here)

I've been "Craigslist" shopping Farmall A, C, H & M tractors for about the last 5 1/2 years. If Craigslist is any indication tractors like this go for WAY More than $300 - $500. Tractors are priced very locally - in Atlanta where I lived before tractors were $400 - $800 cheaper for a similar model (than in N Carolina).

My suggestion would be to check the local listing in Craigslist for comparable "B"s and then price $200 - $300 below other asking prices and it will probably sell in less than a week!

Yes - have someone "flip" the right side rear tire AND the two rears appear to be different sizes from the photos that was posted.
