Whenever I adjust the clutch adjustment rod so the pedal shaft is 1" away from the transmission cover, there is one thread left in the threaded end. Other words, the rod bears on only one thread. It works, the clutch works OK< but what is happening? Why only one thread left?

better be replacing some parts starting with throw-out bearing then pressure plate and disc. Your linkage probably is also shot too much play.

When a clutch disk wears the release fingers move away from the disk resulting is less free travel. In this case you have too much free travel not too little. That would indicate a problem with the linkage, release bearing, or the release levers. Most likely the disk and pressure plate are still fine unless the problem is with the release levers.

The bolts that hold the throwout fork to the shaft (inside) can wear and begin to shear. replacing them can be done pretty easily by removing only the Belly pump (if equipped). Either way the problem is easier to find when you can see it. Jim
