Early 706's had the 263 and later ones had either the 291 or 301, can't remember which. After all these years the 263 could have been rebuilt to the larger also. A casting number from the block will tell which engine you have for sure, minus the possible rebuilt scenario...

Look to the right of the oil filter base as it should be stamped on the flat machined surface , now if it is not stamped then you have a replacement block and the only way to tell what you have now is to pull the head and massure . Sometimes you can guess by S/N as late 66's had 291's .
