IH 2504 12 or 17 gpm pump?

Serial number suffix letters ( such as 12345 SY )

S = Torque Amplifier

Y = 12 gpm pump
Z = 17 gpm
FF = 4.5 gpm
GG = 7.0 gpm

Of course, that assumes that the pump was never-ever changed in the tractor, and "upgraded" to a 17GPM.

I suspect the only way to truly know is to have it flow rated, or pull the pump and look at the part number....

Thanks Weldon. My serial is followed by S-Y so I am going to assume for now that it is the 12gpm pump.

So, my new-to-me 504 has S Y-FF. Are there two pumps?

I have ordered the owners manual and shop manuals, but they haven't gotten to me yet. I hope they will explain all of this :lol: [/quote]

I have the I&T IH-201 manual and it shows with draft and position controls and power steering there are two pumps. Some use a flow divider for the PS and some do not have PS.
Pumps could be either Cessna or Thompson.
