Hydraulic lines getting hot

I have just added a farmall 100 to my collection. I have noticed
that after running for about 10 min or so the hydraulic lines
going to the pump and return line both metal get pretty warm is
this normal or what could be going on ? Thank you

The regulation system includes a screen and pilot system in the reservoir (IIRC) the pump is probably staying on demand and forcing the bypass to work. This makes heat. See the exploded views in the on line parts layout (caseih.com parts) Jim

If you have ever heard it before, you can usually hear the relief or the pump straining if it is on demand all the time = heat.
My Farmalls are older than the 100 series, but if the lines are the same....
I add a high pressure gauge that I can see from the seat, to the pipe plug on the pressure line plate at the reservoir.
lets me keep an eye on what the hydraulics are doing all the time

The hydraulic system is virtually identical to the Super A, C, and Super C.

SOME heat is normal, but smoking hot is not normal.

Does the engine sound strained when it is idling? Do you hear any strange loud whining when the tractor is idling?

The strainer is underneath a rounded "square" cover held on by four bolts. It is easy enough to pull and clean, but you will need to dump the oil in the process.

If the tractor's new to you - it might be hard to tell if you hear any straining.

when you move one of the hydraulic levers, you should hear the engine strain - slightly.

If you hear no change at all - then I'd guess it's constantly straining - can causing the heat.

It is not running all the time it does make a different noise when you raise or lower the lift levers I have not run it very much but I will clean the screen on it and see if that helps I had a super a but don't remember the lines getting hot. Thanks to everyone for the info
