2444 hydraulics

(quoted from post at 17:15:16 07/14/13) On the 2444 transmission, how do you check the fluid, and how do you know if it needs more? Thanks. Bob

For tractors without front mounted hydraulic pump, forward and reverse, and/or continuous running power take-off, my Operator's Manual shows a plug (#24) on the right side of the rear frame housing just ahead of the pivot for the park brake lever. That is just under the platform on the right side.

Tractors without front mounted hydraulic pump but with forward and reverse drive, and/or continuous running power take-off; keep the fluid level up to the level plug opening (26). This plug is located on the left side of the clutch housing just ahead of the clutch pedal.

For tractors with front mounted pump (like mine) the correct level is six inches below the filler plug opening.

Transmission capacity is 5 gallons for tractors without front mounted hydraulic pump or draft control; 14 gallons with front mounted hydraulic pump, without draft control; 17 gallons with front mounted hydraulic pump and draft control.
