Need help! I am replacing the cylinder head on my MD. I need to remove the combustion chambers out of the old head.Has anyone ever removed them? Is there a special puller to reach down inside the head? Any information/help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot. Elm
 
yes there is a special puller for those pre cups. but have you tried putting some carb cleaner" gunk" in there and let it soak then wash them out with warm water. they should loosen up and come out.
 
Thanks for the replies. I have the nozzel and flange off. I am now trying to get the combustion chamber out. Part # 260878R1. I have been soaking it for several days. Any suggestions?

Flip that puller around 90 degrees. The bolt holes are the same spacing.
 
No easy way if stuck bad. From what I was told the regular pre combustion chamber puller IH used didn't work for some tough ones. Once I did use 2 rear jaws for a smaller size pipe wrench inside the chamber with a flat bar stuck between to get one turning by twisting the bar and spreading the jaws. Hard to get the teeth to bite though.

I gotcha. I was thinking nozzle bodies and nozzle body retainers. Yes, precups...pressure washer. Sorry

BTW, I have tried to find the puller and it is near impossible according to most. I have also heard it would wreck them half the time so it doesn't do much good now.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I've come to the conclusion that I wont be able to remove the combustion chambers without causing damage to them. I have located four new ones and will be installing them. Thanks again for help. Elm
