Ive got a 400 that im about to restore. Bought it last year with a dual loader for scooping snow. And just took the loader off to start the restoration. My dad has a few old restored tractors and thats what i want i also have a question on the 400 i have 3 spots for guages but im missing the far left guage. Can any one tell me what guage that is supposed to be?

Buy 3 new gauges from OEM Tractor Parts dot com, they are made in the US. Others come from Asia or other places.

Worth it...no. The price of a good restoration will exceed the value increase that it creates. That doesn't mean it isn't' worth doing...

schmithco, Yes it is worth it. In more way than you might think!...............
Will it be worth more $$$ than you put in it?....No, But, A 400 w/ TA is the pinnacle of the M/SM Series! Everything a SMTA has ++++++ more.
If you restore it it will last you the rest of your life! 45/50 hp, 3pt, with that loader it will be a very handy tractor moving bales and snow or soil!
Also light enough not to pack a bunch of ground in farming operations.
Easy and straight forward to work on. No real special tools needed either.
Go to Tractor Supply and get a Shop Manuel if you don't already have one. With a loader... Dish the Cast Wheels Out, Be prepared to have 3 to 4 Split wts on the inside of each rear wheel and 3 to 4 one piece wts on the outsides if you do lots of heavy round bale or snow moving! Paint it up nice and you will have a great using tractor on your hands that will turn heads too!
Hope this helps!
