Working on the F30 fuel tank

Had to strip and redo the F30 fuel tank, as the PO took some short cuts I just couldn't live with. Thought I would post a couple of pics:

oldiron29, sorry I missed you as well. Believe it or not, that is the Tractor Supply Majic IH red. Rattle can. I was skeptical a month or two back, but thought, what the heck, I'll try some of it. I painted a couple of things that needed to be RED, just to try it out.

Well, I was impressed. The spray nozzle puts out what is almost a profession fan spray, and holding about 6" - 8" away, and using a normal 1/3 overlap, I have been VERY pleased with the results.

On the tank, I took it down to bare metal. Hit it with an acid etch primer. Then did a light color coat, 10 mins flash time, and then a heavier "gloss" coat. You see the result.

I cannot comment on the durability, but so far, I am pleased with the color/hue, and the quality of the finish. time of course will tell. I am not setup to shoot urethane, so I go with the alkyd paints. Rattle cans for small jobs, and paint gun for larger ones.

Very nice job. I should tell you that some of my tractor parts have resided in similar locations. My wife drew the line at bringing the chassis in the kitchen. lol..Am curious about the decals. Mine say the same but not the same shape. Like the looks of the ones you have better.
