How can one tell which clutch Rockford or IH is in a Farmall 460D

Seems like I read some where on this forum it has to do with suffix or prefix in serial #

Suffix letter on chassis serial number plate
J = Rockford clutch

The Rockford clutch is the only one used in a Farmall 460. The International 460 had an optional over center style clutch available.

Thanks guys.....this tractor belongs to a friend that knows nothing about tractors. He started farming last year knowing notta thing about what he was getting into.

So now I going to have to help him replace the clutch WITH OUT a shop manual..hhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmm
Been trying to get him to buy a manual for over a year now..guess I'll keep pushing

Unless you need parts for a specific original pressure plate it won't mater which type clutch it has. Chances are it doesn't have a original clutch in it so you won't know until its looked at. If replacing the complete clutch and pressure plate as a unit with the correct parts to fit, it doesn't mater what was in it.
