Farmall A Crank Pulley

I have been working on rebuilding the engine on a 1942 Farmall A. I ended up having the replace the crank pulley, but the replacement (used from another 1942 A) one is loose on the crankshaft. I put the old one back on to check and it is tight. Is it possible to shim the replacement pulley or do I need to find another one? Thank you.

Loose is not acceptable. They are usually an interference fit of great difficulty to remove (I have seen 20 ton applied before it gave up a millimeter. If it was a locational fit that was just movable on the shaft, I would drill and tap for a set screw, then grind a flat on the crank, or drill a divot in the crank to accept the crown of a crown point set screw. If loose, a different pulley is best. Jim
