IH 404 - Fluid from gear shift

I have a question. I have a 1964 IH 404 that i am restoring, mostly for use on my tree farm. This weekend I got it running and after about 5 mins of running, I noticed a white milky discharge of fluid from the gear shift boot and spring. Obviously it appears water has gotten in the hydraulic fluid some how and I can see where it is coming from. The question would be, what should I be looking for in regards to replacing. There is a ring in the diagram that looks like it could be the culprit, but IH no longer supplies those. Could that be the issue or could it be a gasket under the gear housing? I am attaching pic. Thanks

Mine did the same thing. Water contamination makes
it foam up and overflow where pure oil might not.
You also may have enough water in there to seriously
over fill it. I think the water got in the same way
that mess is coming out. Some sort of boot over the
shift lever might help that. As far as sealing goes,
mine never gave a problem after I dealt with the
water and overfilling.

Using the machine often to the point that the oil in the trans gets to temperature, will evaporate the water (mostly). Changing it will make 80% go away. The trans breaths in and out with air temp changes and thus brings in humidity no matter if it has a boot. (the boot is a good idea, I like to use a CVjoint boot as they are made tough and look good.)
