Fuel lines on old IH diesels

Does anyone know why IH used their "oddball", hard to find brass fittings on their inlet fuel lines,(as well as on alot of their hydraulics), then simply used plain old compression brass on the return lines? Thanks for any insight.

Bob,
My dealer cant even find the part number listed for them. And Ive been getting parts from this partsman for 30 years. I bought steel lines from OEM because the old ones were kind of a mess & was trying to do it right. I even went to my local diesel pump shop & they said "yeah, seen them, but good luck."

What lines do you need?

Call Otter Sales & Service in Burlington, WI. I bought some there. They were pretty pricey in my opinion.

All right... WHAT tractor and what lines?

I THINK these are what you are looking for, though....

Tube nut 5/16"..... CIH part # 222-500

Tube nut 3/8"...... CIH Part # 222-501

The fittings I'm looking for are
#22507D connector, and either
#363943R11 or
#362972R11 - both elbows with a stand pipe.
This is on a W400 Diesel, by the way.
Was just on the phone with another dealer and was told there wasnt anything on their network either. Got a couple of salvage yards looking now.
Guy overpaid me for my parted out WD9's 20 yrs back, but theyd sure been handy now...

My Local Case IH dealer keeps the oddball fuel line fittings in stock. They're also oddball for the gassers, too. I don't know the part number offhand. I've been able to get them when I want them. Call Archbold Equipment in Adrian, MI. 517-263-1395. -Andy
