I have been messing with and trying to get the brakes to work on my 2400B industrial tractor. The brakes have never worked very well since I"ve owned the tractor. I have tried to bleed the brakes according to information that I found in the archives. My problem is that whenever I open the bleeder screws I never get any hydraulic fluid to come out. I don"t have any visually obvious leaks that I can find. I really don"t know where to start trouble shooting. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Max,
even with hydraulic oil warm and engine running about 1500 RPM you never get any oil coming out either bleeder screw? Only open one screw at a time.

Does PS, PTO and 3pt work OK?
The brake master cylinder is fed from a T on the oil cooler return line. Older models had a direct feed to the master cylinders. Later models had a plastic master cylinder reservoir that was fed by the return line.
My I&T shop manual mentions a restrictor and screens in the lines that feed the master cylinders.

Also when you are bleeding the brakes, you can pinch off the return line beyond the brake master cylinders to force all the oil through the brake system. Look for two small steel hydraulic tubes by the right hand side of the battery box. Look for the steel tube that has about a 2 inch rubber hose connecting the 2 sections of the steel tubing. This is the return line from the brake master cylinders, now borrow one of your SGO's clothes pins and clip it on the rubber hose then take your visgrips and lock then on the clothes pin to pinch off the return line. DO NOT CLAMP the Visegrips directly on the rubber hose.

This should force all the return oil through the brake system. If you still don't get oil out the bleeder screws, you will have to determine if you have flow through the oil cooler system.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. Yes my 3 point, power steering and PTO work good. I tried clamping the reservoir return line but still had no luck getting hydraulic fluid to come out the bleeder screws.

Is there dirt in the bleeders?
