Cub carb question

I've posted a few times about getting a Cub running. The problem was a bunch of stuff in the fuel system. I've got the carb cleaned up but now I finding the threads for the fuel line fitting are stripped enough I can reattach the fuel line. Any ideas if there is a way to fix that?

About the only way is to buy a brass fitting that has the same threads as the original, and has a female end matching the fuel line. Cut off a portion of the end of those threads so the threads start just a little bit larger in diameter, Maybe 3/32" shorter. Buy fuel resistant epoxy based sealer (fuel tank leak sealer type material) and use it to glue in the fitting (do not over tighten it, and make sure things are way clean. Let it harden for a Day or more before using. Don"t over tighten the line fitting and hold the new one while doing so. Helicoils usually cannot work in tapered threads. Jim

Be very carefull with that carb body as the aluminum casting can be brittle. For my Cub I went with a new Zenith Carb(bolted right in place) and it made all the difference in the world. Just below the gas tank I put in a small replaceable gas filter to catch any rust that might get shaken loose from the tank wall while running. The cub starts on the first pull of the starter switch.

Had that happen not long ago on a friends cub. I took a pipe fitting barbed nipple fitting and used J-B weld to lock it in place and a piece of rubber fuel hose and that worked very well and almost sealed up with out the J-B

It is not a tapered thread. It is the thread for a compression fitting (1/2 fine). Cutting a bit off a pipe thread and screwing it in is not the fix. A helicoil works well but you need to be sure the new threads are aligned with the seat at the bottom of the hole and you need a bottoming helicoil tap to finish the threads. Several people over on farmallcub.com have the tools for the job.
