The engine oil in my504 smells gassy and seems like it is getting to a higher level. all other fluids are constant and the oil looks clean. Any ideas? Thanks DTK.

Gas could be leaking past the rings while running. I've heard of some people who have left their gas on and the carb flooded, then proceeded to fill up the exhaust manifold and the crankcase...

You've likely got at least one cylinder that isn't firing.

The tractor should sound like a sewing machine when running, nice and smooth.

Why do so many people think a 4-cylinder Farmall should chug, pop, snort, and sputter like an old John Deere B?

If the manifold was filling up with gas and running over into the crankcase, you'd know it. The tractor would hydro-lock the second you hit the starter switch, or at the very least spew a geyser of raw gasoline out the exhaust.
