560 hyd fluid filter

Went to parts store today to buy some wix filters. One I wanted was the oval filter for my 560s hyd fluid.I have bought several over the years but he said they list 2 oval filters. The only difference he could find is one is 25 microns and the other is 35 microns.I have never encountered this before. Can any of you shed any light on this? Thanks in advance Lee

Wix 51139 are replacement filters for the "double donut" filters in the original screen assembly. They come 2 to a pkg. with gaskets. Nominal micron rating listed is 35.

Wix 51469 is a replacement for the common oval 1pc. filter that was factory equipment later on and that replaced the screen/double donuts when desired. Cover gasket is included. Nom. micron rtg. listed is 25.

Wix 51470 is a taller/thicker version of Wix 51469. Cover gasket should be included. I have no experience with these. I think it requires the use of a different filter cover than the original or perhaps a spacer. Nom. micron rtg. listed is 35.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.I have bought several of these over the years and had never been asked which micron I wanted.Parts man thought they were the same otherwise. Now I can order one and change my hyd oil.

The original style was two doughnut style filters inside a wire mesh retainer. That assembly was replaced by the larger oval filter along with a bypass valve with screen. Unless you still have the original retainer you will not be able to go back to the original style filters.

Micron is the size of the crud that the filter will filter.

25 microns is smaller than 35 microns, so the 25 micron filter will filter smaller bits of crud out of the oil, but it will also plug quicker.
