I ran across this International Harvester today;
it says model "FCUB", serial number 46961. I am thinking it was a 1948 made tractor. I do not know if it runs, but it looks like it could use a lot of work; new tires, fuel leaking from some source. It has a belly mower (needs a new belt; does it just hang by a chain? no raising or lowering? What is something like that worth? I can email pictures if that helps. It was setting on a multi vehicle lot: tractors, implements, trucks, etc.

My info also shows 1948.

Yes, pictures would be nice. Chains usually hook to rockshaft that is operated by hand lever ? Picture may help on that also.

Cubs hold their value. Many big IF'S,however, Engine condition, water in oil, cracked block, gear out in trans or rear end, engine stuck, bad tires mean expensive replacement, etc. Get opinion of local tractor mechanic if you need help.. Good luck

Mower hanging by chain is hooked to the hy rockshaft without hy system there was a lever to raise and lower the mower.

The Woods 42 belly mower had a linkage that connected to the lift arms, made of flat metal. Some folks use just a chain when that linkage is missing.

I have a FCUB vintage Aug 1948 and paid $400 for it in 1996. Rebuilt everything on it . While the engine ran, it needed all new gears in the transmission. The engine was also rebuilt. It has a IH mag on it which is perfect. The only thing I did was to replaced the Carburetor with a Zenith carb. You can get then on this site. Depending where you are the tractor might have a value as is up to about $1000. Get someone in your area to give you some help on pricing and what needs to be replaced to make it useable.

I am trying to post pictures but I am having difficulties; working on it.
