Super C Charging

Hello, Well I ran the tests, ensure grounds vr and gen, polarized vr, system charged when I grounded gen case and field, so I was sure problem was the vr. Had one off a M I converted to 12 and put it on but no soap, same issue. I assume that VR is bad; however, that was new about 12 years ago. So I think I have one off a farmall Cub, will try that one, otherwise I guess new VR. Any ideas out there I sure would appreciate them, hope these are technically interchangeable, thanks

One or both regulators may have corroded field regilator points from setting for a long time. Disconnect the battery, remove the regulator cover and file the regulator points give them another try..

I cannot believe I did not think of that. The vr is in front of me so I will look at them tonite and see what happens tomorrow. My sc was charging but then stopped, and has set some time. Thanks

In addition to Jon's idea, make sure the Gen and VR are grounded well. Purchase an American made regulator. There are very nice trouble free solid state regulators available for Delco generators in 6v positiver ground. Jim

Your problem is your regulator isnt matched for your generator too many regs are sold as one size fite all and most are junk so get the # off your gen then go to Car Quest as theirs are made in the USA and they do work.

Well that is an idea, I will call them now. Kinda puzzles me why vr from farmall and off farmall do not work. Calling them now

No soap. Tag too far damaged, can barely make out delco remy. Car quest drew a blank on number off old vr.....which has been replaced. Number is 1411 6v pis. Dunno what else just now

Just called the ekectrical shop and decided to take gen and vr in for a test. Have ran all the tests provided by all here, checked wiring, grounds, meter everything points to vr. So lets see what the pros say on a bench test, will report back later, may help somone else. BTW, the SC was charging after setting 10 years then quit. Had 3 vrs on, see all and thanks
