New Carb Issues with a B

I bought a Zenith 12522 carb on this site for a '45 B. I got it in the mail yesterday all excited to get it installed, but discovered an issue. The air inlet is bigger than the old carb, so the hose connecting to the air cleaner doesn't work. The carb came with a reducer that would work, the problem is that with the reducer on it makes it too long. I would have to cut down the reducer to make it work. Does anybody have any suggestions, short of cutting the reducer and/or returning the carb?

I have not seen a reducer. However you should be able to cut it as long as you can get it to fit. I don't remember the carb number, but I bought one similar to yours where the carb inlet was bigger than the opening in the air cleaner pipe. With some difficulty I forced it on--maybe a quarter inch difference.

That reducer is for use on a Farmall Cub. The Cub has a smaller diameter intake pipe. You should not need it on your B, unless your B does not have the correct intake pipe on it.

It can't be for a Farmall Cub. The mounting at the manifold is bigger on the B.

What you have there is a "will fit" carburetor because they don't make the exact original anymore.

If the reducer makes it work, then do what you have to to make it fit.
