Curious about price/ installation on a new woods belly mower for an older Farmall. Pics? Bought one in the past 5 years or so?

I'd agree with Charles. All replacement parts are
still available and all new equipment brings a hefty
price unless you can justify it by making money with
it.

They look just like the used ones, only with nice fresh orange and white paint.

Rest assured it won't be cheap. You can shop around if you have multiple dealers in the area who sell Woods, but you'll be stuck paying whatever the dealer demands if you want it, even if it's 2X what everyone else says they paid. That, or you do without, or you go with a used unit.

I bought one in excellent shape off of a 140 for $500 three years ago. Not as many old Farmalls as in past days. Tobacco plowing on small farms has all but died, Zero turn mowers are very popular. Woods certainly are not as valuable/popular as they were 25 years ago. I am keeping mine on my Super A!

I bought a new woods RM-500 mower in 1980. Deck rusted out by 1991. I had a new deck made out of 304-SSt to RM600 dimensions and had the gear box frame galvanized and the cover plates made from 316 SSt. The spindles interchanged but the blade mounting hardware was changed to RM 600. This was >20 years ago and it may never wear out (never painted either). Still in great shape. I mow 5 acres and my wife's 1 acre occasionally. Replaced some bolts last year with SSt.

Point being, woods rotating parts are heavy duty but the materials of construction for frames etc. will rust. They expect their decks to rust and be replaced every so often. I think a deck could be made out of regular steel then galvanized with similar results (concern about warping though with hot dipping).

I haven't bought it, YET, but I was quoted $2500.00 for a new
6' installed on a Super C. This was last fall. I'm sure with
inflation and the devaluation of the $ it's more now.

Here"s some recent prices.....(prices vary for each tractor application)

Woods 59.....$ 2700
Woods 306.....$ 3800
Woods 42......$ 2600

Woods still makes these mowers and carries a full line of service parts for them. We are a Woods dealer and have a deep inventory of parts.

Not to worry, Woods and Grass Hopper and in bed together and they are eye ball deep in zero turn mowers. I found that the Woods zero turn decks do not hold up either.

(quoted from post at 21:06:14 06/07/13) Woods and Grasshopper have not been in bed together since 1995.

May be wrong, but I believe Grasshopper is now "in bed with" Dixon, which is owned by Blount Industries. Not sure who Woods is sleeping with these days

(quoted from post at 23:23:14 06/06/13) Not interested in used.

I have a nice looking Woods Belly Mower on a 1978 Farmall Cub. I was told by the previous owner that it was used 5 times. It does look nice and shows little wear. I'm intrested in selling it as I own a Scag Zero Turn Mower and will not be using the Cub to mow.

Thanks,
