Well, I finally got the wheels narrowed up so thought I would try my 1951 Farmall h on the baler for the first time.

That's not Casper the ghost driving it is actually my wife who cut herself from my pictures as usual.

Tractor does not look like much but runs very well (and I paid very little for it). Actually what looks like surface rust in most areas is paint that has simply weathered to the point of looking like rust.

Overall tractor worked fine on the New Holland 65 baler. First time I had used something other than the Kubota L285 diesel to bale with. I figured the gas engine might surge more than the Kubota diesel on the baler but the governor surging was very minimal.

I have baled a lot with an H over the years and it will do just fine. When you get in some real tough stuff she will surge and rock some but nothing too bad, unless you are on the wagon ! Your baler looks to be in nice shape judging by the paint and the bales on the ground.

Unfortunately, I do not have a wagon so I have not experienced that riding the wagon joy since I was a little kid. I am only a hobbyist and the trailer behind a pick up truck works well for me because I can use the trailer for other purposes. Even though it is more work the way I do it, I do appreciate being out of the dust from the baler which would be prevalent if I was on a wagon behind the baler.

The baler is in decent shape. I have refurb'd parts of it and am in the process of totally going over it now and refurbing the portions I had previously neglected.

(quoted from post at 10:32:43 06/06/13) Looks like a great rig. My H has the same patina...and also does a nice job! Nice looking hay too!

Stumpy

Someone posted a pic the other day of a Farmall h and I swear I thought someone had stolen my Farmall h as the patina looked identical-LOL.

Thanks for the compliment on the hay. FWIW that portion of the field is my worst area. It is always thin there. Rest of my field looks even better.
