M NOT backfiring

My previous post concerned my M backfiring after installing an electronic ignition. I went back to the original coil. Also--- The reluctor was loose on the backing plate. the screws that hold the reluctor to the plate have no slots for a screw driver. I put two small nuts on the front and tightened it down. I started the tractor and let it idle for about 15 minutes, all OK. I drove it down the lane, all OK. The real test was to take it to the woods at the back of the farm where it would be hard to get towed out. What do you think fixed it? I will figure it out after the hay is in. Special thanks to Jim for answering my questions. Ellis

My guess is it was the coil, you can put it back on after the haying is done! When you repair/replace numerous parts it's called shotgun maintenance and you don't learn from it, but the important thing is it's running now.

Probably the ignitor repair. Changing back the coil is pretty easy as a test. I know you have not been practicing the 12gauge on it. Jim
