My M held a secret!

But the cat's outta the bag now! I, for what ever reason haven't done any mowing with it. I do some mowing on the side and decided to take the M this time. All I could do was laugh! What a wonderful tractor for the job.

Had a great afternoon, and figured I'd share....and I got paid too!

i've got no 3pt on my H.. but I do have a few spare mowers.. makes me want to set one up for drawbar pull, and take the pasture drag off of it.

actually what i'd LOVE to find is a belly mower for it.

I rememebr a long time ago missing a chance to buy a nice 49H with a woods mower. that thing mowed great and went cheap when it went for sale. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time to step on it.

memories of that machine are what led me to get the 44 H i have now.

nice pics, thanks for posting.

great looking machine

I love mowing with my Super M.It pulls my 286 Bush Hog quite well.Mine works well also.

Ive got a 52 H with a 6 foot artsway belly mower. I got it last fall and love it. does a good job, but it has to since I don't have a 3 point bush hog

theres a H with a belly mower for sale around Sioux city Iowa, but I don't know where your located. its in a facebook buy/sell/trade group im in

Man, that makes me want a wide front for my M. When I cut tall grass, I always get the stripe down the center where the narrow front lays down the grass.

I like them foot pads under your feet, but that is where the oil and dirt is suppose to be. Our old M didn't have fenders so the dirt and oil made a good mix.

Mike, I see your Super M temp gauge shows 'RUN'. Are they more apt to be in that range than the 40-60 series Farmall tractors? Thanks folks for sharing images.

I had a story like that as well. It was the very last tractor built in 49. It had new rears and a belly mower. The guy wanted $950, but would only take cash. I told him I would pick it up Monday since he wouldn't take some cash and some check. There is some guy in N IL that keeps $1000 dollars in cash in his house that now owns it. Oh well, I still only have a couple hundred in cash at the house at any time. That is what banks are for...

Al L in Wisc.

Those are replacement gauges from OEM tractor parts I installed last year. I DO NOT know how accurate these new gauges are????(I hear mixed reviews on here and Red Power about them.:( )

(I used to have a GOOD gauge installed that was actually graduated in degrees.)I had been running it ALL day for about 3 hours straight at about 3/4 throttle in tall grass and that is where the gauge needle stays at all the time.(Outside air temp was about 72 degrees that day)

Just "putting" around with ZERO load on the motor and it rarely EVER gets into the "RUN" area on the gauge. I question if the gauge is reading correctly??????

Sorry to "hi jack" this thread in advance.

Looks like a good day of mowing for you.

The new guages are crap. I replaced one last year on my 400. It never moves from cold. Last night out green chopping for the cows stack was glowing orange and the temp guage never moved. Thinking its time to put in a real temp guage that will show me something.

Stopped mowing with the M to catch a picture of the wife mowing with a smaller size.
Easy mowing with the 90 inch finish mower in this grass. It will make the governor open up and the tractor exhaust talk in high heavy grass.
Hay field in picture was fresh cut and baled.

Have some with old gauges and new. Good thermostats and they all read about like this working in warm weather. Past the center of the green if working real hard.

If you are going to make hay don't you want a 9 foot sickle mower?
Search you tube for Howell/JD mowing.

Fenders will be one of my next purchases. The pads were an addition by a friend of mine, they are nice when the deck is wet!
