460D What Happened update

After trying to start this tractor the other night and having the fuel delivery suddenly stop for some reason, I have followed advice that I got here at YTMag and am still a bit confused about what might have happened. I have pulled the timing cover off of the injector pump, it turns out that the shaft is turning. I took off an injector line and am getting fuel to the injectors. But still no fire when trying to start it, not even any smoke. No backfires or anything. Any other ideas?? Could I have stripped a cam gear or something in the front of the engine?? I'm new to the diesels, but pretty comfortable with all other parts of an engine. I just don't wanna tear down the engine if it isn't needed. Thanks for any advice that you maybe able to offer.

If the pump is turning, and it has fuel through the filters it should make grey/white smoke. Even if out of time.
Does the engine act like it has the same cranking sound it did when it ran? (compression check by the seat of the pants) if so has the speed control hand lever gotten disconnected? Is their a stop control that could be in the stop position? Just going through mental images of what could keep it from injecting. Jim

I played hell getting my 560 running and found out the check valve in the return line decided to quit working. it would run for a bit then act like it was starving then die. let it sit for about 20 minutes while the pump filled back up and would run for a bit. if you cranked right after it died, it wouldn't smoke one single bit even with the throttle wide open. might be something to check
