inspecting a used hydraulic pump for an H

I think a bearing is going out on the belly pump on my H. Also, the hydraulics gets weak when the tractor gets warmed up and you have been using the hydraulics a lot(like disking).

What do I look at / for in a used hydraulic pump ?

Thanks

Greg

There are bushings in the pump (no real noise there when flooded with oil) but if worn enough to allow the gears to rub the housing, certainly that wear will cause noise. If you are running hytran or other thinish tractor Hydraulic oil, try a 15-40, or straight 40 in the entire system to see if it will improve. This only works if the tractor and disk are not shared with other equipment or tractors that require Hytran. Jim

The 350 uses hytran, so using 40 wt in the H is not a good option.

If the bushings in a used pump are good and there is no wear in the housing, it should be a workable unit ? Springs and balls wouldn't be a problem.

Greg

That is correct. on the 350 tick, Ticks like that are often a chipped trans tooth. The TA has little in it that can tick. The Drive gears for the PTO can ne one location toward the front. Look at the caseih.com parts diagram for the trans. Jim
