f14 heisler overdrive

does the overdrive have a vent or relief valve .there is a plug with a hole drilled in it with a cotter key in it in the fill hole everytime i hit a bump oil flies out. can i just put a solid plug in, or will that blow the seal?thanks.

That plug with the cotter in it is the vent, Is it overfull? 90 wt gear oil usually doesn't splash out. Should be a small plug on the front for proper oil level. They get warm during operation I bet a solid plug would build pressure and force oil out the front seal

thanks for the info. i saw a picture of an qverdrive and it had what looked like a factory vent/plug in the fill hole. anybody out there have one of those i can buy?

The plug with the cotter in it is Factory, try putting in a close nipple and coupler like the one on mine
