Paint code for IH 240

A week or so ago I asked for the paint code for a IH 240. CNKS responded. Said the white pcs. on lower part of hood used IH 901 which converts to PPG 8665. Our local PPG guy said thats not a good # Any other ways to find the right paint? Thanks

It's been 6-7 years since I bought that paint, it was a good number then. Did you ask him to cross IH 901? There are a couple of more whites that were used on later models, there may not be a whole lot of difference. See http://rodnh.byethost12.com/misc/PPG%20Tractor%20Colors.htm

I just used IH 935 from the dealer on my Farmall 504 and also used it on a 560. I would just go buy a quart of that. It looks great, i havent had any problems with it and its cheap enough.

Find a different paint supplier. Any decent paint supplier should have been able to set you up with no problems. This one clearly does not want your business. He's only interested in selling paint by the case. Your measly quart of white isn't worth his time apparently.
