Do I need to use a pan gasket? Do I need to make one from other gaskets or do they still make them?
Thank you

I've made them myself. ALWAYS use a gasket where one is called for - even if you have to make it yourself. NEVER rely on Silicone - no matter what color it is.

A couple things...Make sure the pan lip is flat. Over the years farmers would over tighten the blots causing them to pull the metal in where the bolts are. If needed, put the pan on the edge of a bench and use a hammer to flatten the dimples.

An old mechanic for IHC used a thick paper bag as a gasket with permatex on both sides.

Personally, I use paper gasket material with black silicon.

Thank you very much. I received a couple of valve cover gaskets, that are for old cars, with this tractor. I had to guess that my uncle had intentions of making his own, but I wasn't sure about it.
