Which is lighter the standard narrow front or a tricycle. I have heard that they are both the same weigth which does not make sense to me. Somebody told me that farmall had a cast hub and rim to mare it the same weight as the standard front.
Thanks for the help

I would call a narrow and tricycle the same thing, then there is the single wheel with a heavy cast frame to hold the tractor and mounted equipment. Like corn picker.

There are several wheel configurations on a single front wheel tractor. The smallest wheel size is often cast iron and heavy. The fork is also pretty stout. The steel wheel singles are some what lighter, but not much. If you are pulling, a single front fork, a custom axle and hub, with a light mag wheel and a motorcycle tire will be about as light as one can get. The hub configuration and bearing situation is unique and not very impressive. Best of luck. Jim

You'd have to place them on a scale to know. I assume you mean tires and all and no two tires are alike. There is a cast hub version of the single and also a pressed steel rim. They take a different size tire.

I drove my dad's H for several years with the NF and SF in most years. The SF was used for cultivating vegetables, NF mostly for tillage. SF was the cast one with a 6-16 tire. As to weight I couldn't tell the difference. The lighter one probably wouldn't cause much difference either.

Depends on whether you call tricycle the configuration or the number of wheels. I consider it to be 3 wheels. According to Wikipedia tricycle was first used when the 3 wheel kids tricycle was invented. But on this forum I use single front and narrow front to attempt to avoid confusion. I'm too lazy to look it up in a real dictionary and see if it officially also means configuration.
