A friend has a farmall model A he would like to get rid of. No battery or hand crank. What would be the easiest way to check for a stuck motor?

I usually grab the fan by a blade and turn it while watching to see if the crankshaft turns. If the belt slips I use my other thumb to push the belt in in between the pulleys to tighten it.

If the fan belt is good and is tight you simply grab the fan and push in on the belt and you should be able to move the crank pulley forward or back a bit by hand. Done 100s of engines that way and the locked up ones did not move and the ones there where not locked up did move. Ya ,maybe not so much as to spin the engine over one full turn but enough to know they are not locked up
