I have a 1949 Farmall M with an International Mag No. H-1236276 on it and wondering what the points should be set at. Just bought it and it doesn't sound right out of the exhaust. Compression is 135 on all 4 cyl. with a dry check and they have the points set at .025. I was thinking that they should be around .013. also should't the mag. click over somewhere between the 2 lines on the crank pulley to be in time right they have it after it goes by the 2 marks. Thanks for any help
Robertw.

Battery ignition; set points .020" at highpoint on lobe of distributor.
Timing is set at TDC (double marks on pulley)for #1 cylinder on compression.

The correct points setting for an IH H4 Magneto is 0.013.

The correct points setting for a battery ignition distributor is 0.020.

This is correct for all models of the letter series tractors Farmall A through M.

This clearly explained in the Blue Ribbon service manual.

The last mark in the pulley is TDC. it should click at or vary little after that mark. If before, when it is hand cranked it will be nasty. Jim
