Our Club is restoreing a 1958 IH 240 U for a Raffel Tractor. We need a battery box, or at least the base, and the steering wheel center emblem. Also, can anyone provide the code #s for the red and white paint for this model? Anything close to the Cleveland O. area. Thanks

I believe the center steering whell emblem has been re-produced... choice of either with or without PS. For the battery box, might try... http://www.jptractorsalvage.com/ , I have bought 240U parts from them.

Both the IHC Farmall and International model 240's do not utilize a normal battery box. They only have a cover on the top which is next to impossible to locate (at least an original factory one) with a couple of angle pieces attached to the transmission that the battery sets on. The battery is secured in place with two long carriage bolts (one on each side of the battery) running vertically from the angle brackets and secured to the original factory cover to hold the battery in place.
The steering wheel center cap is available from several sources as it was common to several IHC model tractors. I will leave the paint codes for the tractor to others as the correct paint is no longer available from the CaseIH dealerships. Wishing you well with your restoration efforts and your part searches as it will be a challenge as they both had relative small production quantities for an IHC tractor and few if any 240 unique parts are being reproduced to my knowledge, Hal.

The red on most 240's was IH 201, no longer available. The 1961 models may have been painted with IH 2150, still available from CaseIH. 2150 crosses to higher quality paints by PPG, DuPont and others. 2150 crosses to PPG 71310/DuPont 96766. 2150 has a slight orange tint to it, caused by a reformulation due to the EPA, so it is not the original shade. The white color was IH 901, crosses to PPG 8665, I don't remember the DuPont code.
