farmer complant: he puts it in gear,it will move forward a litte and then stop.like in netural...give it some gas ...it may kick in and lonch foward....sound like it loosing prime....air pocket in oil.???? one time he was going up a small hill and it stoped moving..like it poped in to netral.then it kicked in...scarey
tran oil is full..

First thing to do is to change BOTH hydralic and transmission filters.Plugged filters can cause those symtoms.Couple years ago, neighbor bought a nice 656 with a 'bad' hydro(it wouldn't move)....took it home, checked it out, changed filters.the trans filter was PLUGGED,looked like it had never been changed.Tractor is now used daily on a round bale feeder.

try holding the hydro lever toward the steering wheel. the side to side adjustment of the slot the lever follows is sensitive and can give the symptoms you describe, especially if the cowl is cracked or loose. I have had that happen to mine. there is a little adjustment to the track the lever follows, in the metal guide bolted to the fiberglass. or you may need to readjust the whole cowl. when the tractor stops moving, your first reaction is to grab the hydro lever (pulling it inward), which can make the tractor jump forward if the slot adjustment is off.

I had the F&I pedal start to stick, and it acted like that too. Make sure the pedal is coming to the top.

My fiberglass cowl was loose side to side. Would be going along and tractor would just stop, then touching it sometimes launch forward then stop again. I tightened all the screws in the cowl, problem fixed, wow that was easy.
