Thanks to all for the comments yesterday, vacation day today, changed oil, filter and touch control oil, cleaned filter. Evidently the previous owner didnt know the oil was supposed to be changed. I wonder if it was original. Goopy and lots of sludge but all is fine. Thanks to all for the help. Now sitting through storms and Tornado Warnings here in Mid Mo

When I brought home one of my super A's the first thing I did was change the oil and filter. It too was and had been neglected in this regard. While I had the filter out I always examine the long bolt that holds the housing down to make sure dirt or sludge had not plugged it up. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered that the hole the oil travels through had not been completely drilled through from the factory! All those years the filter was unable to do its job as designed. I finished drilling the hole out and she's running fine. That tells me how tuff and well built these old tractors are. Now if I can only tighten the steering up. My next progect.
