More 54 Super M questions

Ok I did decide to buy the 54 Super M and now have it home. Looking at it the tag it is close to the end (within 70 of the end) But looking at the casting codes they almost all come up 53? Even the bellhousing with the serial tag on it has a cast code of mid 53. The tag looks very nice and looks very original. Is It possible that they were using up the castings in making the tail run of the straight super Ms?

Would make sense. It was not at all unusual for castings to sit in storage for a few weeks (or even a couple months) before being machined then assembled into a finished tractor.

yes your castings are correct. my 54' super m has y date castings.

Well its a project for sure the engine is stuck with a likely cracked head. So I will have to do some investigating. Heres a pic of it I got all the parts for it except the raditaor. Isn't much to look at it, but its decent.
